Examples of qualitatively different possibilities for the luminosity history based on three (left panel) and thirty (middle panel) equal-mass accretion events with the same value of angular momentum. Parameters tvisc = 10 yr, η = 10-3, Mtotal = 0.03 M⊙ in both cases. In the right panel we consider thirty equal-mass events, but now with the angular momentum changing gradually over the whole duration. The change is assumed to be linear, namely, the rising profile (blue curve with relatively small variations) vs. decreasing profile (red curve, with a sharp rise followed by the rapid decline) between the corresponding values of tvisc = 10 yr and tvisc = 50 yr, respectively.
