Effective potential U (see Eqs. (20)and (21)) for the constant { T,V } case. To find the frequencies of normal modes, the Schrödinger Eq. (20)has to be solved with boundary conditions (22), which means that the effective potential is U(ξ) for ξ ≤ Ξ and taken to be infinite for ξ > Ξ. States with negative energies, which exist for Ξ ≥ 8.99, correspond to unstable modes.
