Surface abundances of helium versus carbon (black squares) and oxygen (white triangles) for donors in the helium-star channel at the present time in the case of a sufficiently narrow star formation history. These correspond to the core abundances at the end of the tracks by Nelemans et al. (2010). The surface area of a symbol is proportional to the number of systems in the corresponding track.
