2–10 keV luminosities against redshift for all the X-ray sources with redshift determinations in the 3 Ms XMM-Newton survey. The original parent sample is plotted in grey crosses, while black and red filled circles are plotted for the X-ray AGNs with both a stellar mass and a SFR measurement (“broad” sample). Red symbols represent sources in the GOODS-Herschel-PEP area, filled for Herschel detections and open for FIR upper limits (“complete” sample). The line is the 6.5 × 10^-16   erg   s^-1   cm^-2 flux limit, assuming Γ = 1.7.
