The upper panel shows the inner ~4° region around the Galactic plane of our VVV extinction map. The AKs values are based on the Cardelli et al. (1989) extinction law. Part of this region was also covered by the DENIS survey, which was used in Schultheis et al. (1999) to build the extinction map shown in the lower panel.
