The extinction A_J of the secondary as a function of the A_J of the primary for spatially resolved binary systems in Lupus (red), Chameleon (light blue), and Taurus (dark blue) based on observations of the individual components of each system (Brandner & Zinnecker 1997; White & Ghez 2001; Prato et al. 2003). These binaries have comparable separations to the target systems and are located in the same star-forming regions. The data show a trend of comparable extinction for each component.
