GALEX FUV image of N271. This image consists of approximately the same region as the NTT R-band image shown Fig. 2. As one can clearly see, N271 looks very flocculent in the FUV, in particular when looking at the east and west edges of the galaxy whereas a central stripe has significantly less UV emission. This supports the idea described above that LSB galaxies have localized starforming regions in contrast to a starburst event across the entire galaxy.
