Normalized VLT/UVES absorption-line profiles of the proximate sub-DLA toward Q0841+129. The velocity zero-point shown is defined by the strongest N v absorption component (z = 2.50552), slightly lower than the redshift defined by the low ions (z = 2.50620). The presence of strong S vi and N v absorption, and fully saturated O vi absorption identifies the sub-DLA as intrinsic to the quasar.
