Top: temperature multipoles, , as input to the Trieste simulations, curtailed at ℓ = 400, and synthesised onto a HEALPix map of N_side = 128. These a_ℓm include contributions from the CMB, synchrotron, free-free, and dust. Middle: recovered from the analysis, up to ℓ_max = 400, of the corresponding Trieste simulations which included the effects of sampling, elliptical beams and 1/f noise. These are again synthesised onto a HEALPix map of N_side = 128. It should be noted that the simulations analysed here contain power above ℓ = 400 and it is only for comparison purposes that we curtail the input temperature multipoles to the value of ℓ_max to which the recovery proceeded. Bottom: Residuals between the input-sky and the recovered . These residuals are consistent with noise, the visible pattern is due to the scanning strategy.
