Inverted CCD images of NGC 147 (left panel) and NGC 185 (right panel) obtained with NOT in the i-band. North is up and east is to the left. Designated with blue circles are objects that were identified as LPVs in this work and for which the narrow-band photometry in Paper I indicates C-rich atmospheric chemistry. The red circles mark all other stars (presumably O-rich) that were found to show long-period variability.
