Shaded histograms show the magnitude completeness of the EFIGI catalogue compared to the SDSS DR4 samples excluding objects flagged as “SATURATED”. All EFIGI galaxies not included in the DR4 comparison samples have been removed (see text for details). The apparent 30 − 60% completeness is largely an underestimate due to numerous artefacts (halos of bright stars, satellite trails, faint compact objects) included in the DR4 sample. The bright part of the corrected completeness curves are shown as solid lines; note that the brightest bin of the u corrected curve with 50% completeness contains a single EFIGI galaxy.
