Mean flux redshift evolution inferred from SDSS-DR7 quasars (red triangles: corrected power-law continuum, and blue squares: z ~ 3 PCA continuum) compared to the evolution from Faucher-Giguère et al. (2008) (black open circles). The mean flux evolution derived with a power-law continuum is corrected from the bias predicted in simulation (see Fig. 17). All measurements agree with each other within errors. No “bump” is seen in any evolution inferred from SDSS-DR7 but there is a definite change in the slope of the evolution at z ~ 3 in the sense of a steeper evolution beyond this redshift.
