ACS image of the central field in Abell 1185, produced using the VF555W and IF814W images and averaging them to produce the third color. The brightest cluster galaxy, NGC 3550, is located just off the upper right corner of the image. The field of view is 3.4′ × 3.4′, corresponding to a spatial scale of ~ 220 kpc on a side. North is up and east is to the left. The white box indicates the region shown in Fig. 5.
