Displacement of the shell over a 1/4th orbit (0.25 yr). The distance ΔR over which the shell moves is determined by its own inertia, the remnant of thermal pressure that balances it against the ram pressure of the approaching LBV star and the velocity of the LBV wind, placing an upper limit on the shell velocity.
