Age distribution (top panel) and metallicity distribution (bottom panel) for an example of complex star formation history that has stars formed first between 10.5−12.5 Gyr, and then a second very short burst at 3 Gyr. The top panel shows the percentage of the stars in each age bin as a function of age, while in the bottom panel the percentage of stars is given for each metallicity bin, normalized to the total number of stars in a given age. In the insert on the bottom panel the simulated total metallicity distribution is shown.
