The variables v, B, and E refer to the stellar wind velocity, IMF, and electric field respectively of the undisturbed stellar wind, i.e. before the stellar wind interacts with the planet. The equatorial plane refers to the xy plane, the polar plane refers to the xz plane, and the terminator plane refers to the yz plane.
