The metal line rest frame $W_{{\rm r}}$ are measured for the lowest redshift systems in the SDSS spectrum for Q1408, and the UVES data for Q1108. The SDSS spectra give values consistent within the uncertainties with the UVES data. The SDSS spectrum of Q1408 is too noisy to identify the Mg I line.
