Parsec

GLOSSARY

PARSEC

 
A distance unit widely use in astrophysics. One parsec (pc) is the distance an object would have to be from Earth so that its parallax, when viewed from two points separated by a distance 1 astronomical unit (AU), would be one arcsecond. One parsec (pc) is equal to 3.26 light-years.
