A&A statement on the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies

• All authors must meet standard A&A authorship criteria and ensure the work respects third-party rights and adheres to publishing ethics. AI tools cannot be credited as authors or cited as sources, as authorship requires human responsibility, consent, and accountability.
• Authors may use, without disclosure, generative AI or AI-assisted tools to improve language, coding, and search for information, but only under human oversight. Any other use of generative AI tools must be disclosed at submission, specifying the tool and its role. Declaring the use of these technologies supports transparency and trust between authors, readers, reviewers, editors, and contributors.
• A&A acknowledges that AI is a quickly evolving field, and therefore relies on the authors to disclose the use of AI tools in a reasonable and transparent manner.
• Authors are ultimately responsible and accountable for the content of their work.
