The irradiation of cool stellar atmospheres is reanalyzed using a modified version of the UMA (Uppsala Model Atmosphere) code which incorporates two improvements concerning 1) the spacial resolution (18 points instead of only 6 adopted previously) and 2) adopting modern atmosphere models to simulate hot companions. The implementation of a better spacial resolution is shown to be essential to describe with accuracy the center to limb variation of the specific intensities. It is also shown that only by adopting such a resolution (or a higher one) it is possible to detected and quantify the limb-brightening with confidence.
