Table 1: The observed 26 spiral galaxies with some basic parameters. The Hubble types were taken from the Carnegie Atlas of Galaxies (Sandage & Bedke 1994). The column $B_{{\rm tot_o}}$ gives the extinction-corrected B magnitudes taken from RC3. The inclination $= {\rm arc cos}(b/a)$ stems from the V-fit in this paper (cf. $Q_{\rm d} = b/a$ in Table 2). The galactic extinction $ A_{\rm g}(B)$, the internal extinction $A_{\rm i}(B)$, and the radial velocities $v_{\rm 3k}$ with respect to the 3K background were also taken from RC3. The determination of the distances and their references are explained in the text. The exposure times for the UBVRI images are given in seconds. NGC 1232 and 1288 were observed with the ESO VLT1 Antu (see text).
