Note that the luminosity profiles used in this paper and those presented in Bergvall & Östlin (2001) may differ slightly due to slightly different choices of inclination and position angle for the ellipses. However, this does not affect the relative contribution of the two components, and hence not the photometric mass estimates below.

Except for ESO338-04, the $\sigma_{{\rm H}\alpha}$ values given in Table 4 were derived from complimentary Fabry-Perot observations utilising an interferometer with large spectral range and were obtained at ESO/La Silla in September 1999 and 2000. For ESO338-04 $\sigma_{{\rm H}\alpha}$ is derived from the data presented in Fig. 7 in Paper I.
