We present the results of a simulation of an axisymmetric (2.5–dimensional), magnetized Herbig–Haro jet. The parameters are chosen for a typical collimated outflow from a young stellar low–mass object. We show that the nose–cone feature of 2D MHD jets critically depends on the magnetic field topology of the precollimation mechanism. The most prominent features of our model jet are knot–like structures along the jet axis which develop in the foremost part of the jet. Shocks associated with these internal knot–like structures mimic bow–shock like features as seen in Herbig–Haro flows.
