Temperature of a spherical grain of dirty ice (water ice with embedded impurities of refractory materials of complex refractory index m = 1.33 – 0.09i) located at 30 au from an M0-dwarf (0.07 L⊙, 3850 K) and plotted as a function of its radius a. Large grains (a > 100 µm) are at the blackbody temperature of 26 K.
