Table 2.

Average CO line ratios of the ULIRGs in our sample.

Ratio (a) Mean Error (b) N(c)
r21 1.10 0.03 10
r31 0.77 0.02 10
r41 0.54 0.03 9
r51 (0.42) 2
r61 0.17 0.007 6
r71 (0.58) 2

Notes.

(a)

CO luminosity ratios, r J1 L CO(JJ1) / L CO(1-0) $ r_{J1}\equiv {L^\prime}_{{\rm CO}(J\rightarrow J-1)}/{L^\prime}_{\rm CO(1{-}0)} $.

(b)

The error is the uncertainty of individual measurements divided by the square root of the number of data points in that sample.

(c)

Total number of measurements available for each luminosity ratio. The r21 and r31 ratios were studied in Montoya Arroyave et al. (2023) for the entire parent sample of 40 local (U)LIRGs, with average values ⟨r21⟩ = 1.12 ± 0.03 and ⟨r31⟩ = 0.81 ± 0.02, well in agreement with those measured in this work. The average ratios r51 and r71 are computed solely from two measurements, therefore they are affected by a large variance.
