Alfvénic Mach number in filaments as a function of the average hydrogen volume density for filaments located at the LB wall according to Eq. (17) based on Skalidis & Tassis (2021). The fit ln(MAST) = 0.179 ± 0.004 + (0.010 ± 0.003) ln(nH) for all 6568 filaments is indicated in red. Fitting only ns > 500 (right from the vertical blue line in Fig. 23 top), we get ln(MAST) = 0.30 ± 0.01 + (–0.005 ± 0.005) ln(nH), as indicated by the blue line. The green line indicates the critical transition for the magnetic field evolution according to Eq. (29) of Beattie et al. (2020).
