We have the great pleasure in this volume to present a special feature on early results from the observations of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko by the instruments onboard the Rosetta orbiter and its Philae lander. This collection of 46 articles covers a wide range of cometary science topics from the geomorphology of the surface to the interactions between the coma and the solar wind, and it revolutionizes the field in many ways. We thank Mathew Taylor and the Rosetta science team for coordinating this special feature.
