Incidence of HD 189733’s RV measurements on inferences obtained from the Spitzer/IRAC 8-μm photometry. a) Overall Keplerian fit (green) of the out-of-transit RV data (black dots) with their 1σ error bars (red triangles) from Winn et al. (2006) and Boisse et al. (2009). b) Marginal PPD (68%- and 95%-confidence intervals) of and obtained solely from the RV data. This shows that the RV data do not constrain further HD 189733b’s eccentricity than the Spitzer/IRAC 8-μm photometry for low complexity brightness models (see Figs. 4a, 6a and 10a). However, for more complex models that favor a localized hot spot and larger , HD 189733’s RV measurements may affect our inferences by rejecting the solutions involving ≳ 0.15 – especially in the context of the e-b-ρ⋆-BD correlation (see Sect. 5.2.1).
