A schematic drawing of advection accretion. Accretion onto a black hole forms a thin disk until a critical radius, Rin, where upon the accretion flows in geometrically thick disk, known as an advection flow. Powerful bipolar jets are formed in the advection zone and are sensitive to the mass accretion, ṁ and the size of the advection zone, Rin.
