Most reported GEMS infrared spectra are contaminated by neighboring crystalline and other amorphous silicates due to size mismatch between typical GEMS and instrument beam spots, but a pure GEMS infrared measurement displayed a maximum around 9.7 $\mu$m (Bradley et al. 1999) consistent with the ISM silicate feature.
