From this result one may consider
that V838 Mon was an A-type main sequence
star prior to eruption, thus rejecting the binarity hypothesis.
However in the case of the A0.5 main sequence
star it would be at a distance of 3.0 kpc which is too low given the distance
estimates from the light echo.
