We expect that the value of Q_b will depend on the thermal properties of the neutron star interior, for example, the core temperature and crust thermal conductivity. We will investigate the dependence of the ignition conditions on these factors in a future paper.

The nuclear network in the evolution code does not followthe ²²Ne abundance directly, but instead the burnt ¹⁴N is added to the ²⁰Ne abundance assuming particle number conservation (see Pols et al. 1995). The total neon mass fraction we find is therefore slightly underestimated.
