In the upper graphs, the lines show the individual clusters $f_{{\rm gas}}$ up to the maximum radius of detection (see Lumb et al. 2004), dots correspond to extrapolated $f_{{\rm gas}}$ . The data (red and purple circles) are the $f_{{\rm gas}}$ in local sample (from RSB00 for the inner part and from VFJ99 in the outer parts) in an Einstein de Sitter cosmology and in a flat low density model. The error bars correspond to the typical dispersion in the VFJ99 sample. In the lower graphs, the average apparent $f_{{\rm gas}}$ and its uncertainty are plotted (filled area).
