A rough estimate with a standard, purely dissipative disk model (assuming an inner radius equal to the magnetospheric radius, $r_{\rm M} \sim 1.6 \times 10^8$ cm and a rate of material reaching $r_{\rm M}$ of $\sim$ $6\times10^{-11}~M_{\odot}$ y^-1) yields a luminosity $\sim$ 400 times higher than allowed by the VLT observations.
