Table B.1: Normalized emission-measure averaged ionization parameters ($\xi _1$ and $\xi _2$) and filling factors ( $\varepsilon _{1,{\rm Chevalier}}$ and $\varepsilon _{2,{\rm Chevalier}}$) in the self-similar model of Chevalier (1982) for different values of n and s. n is the power-law index of the initial outer density profile in the ejecta and s the power-law index of the initial ambient medium density profile. s=0 corresponds to an homogeneous ambient medium, s=2 to an ambient medium modified by a wind and s=-1 simulates a dense shell in the ambient medium. The parameters $\xi _1$ and $\xi _2$ are calculated using Eqs. (B.4) and (B.5). It is not possible to give the value of $\xi _1$ and $\xi _2$ for s=2 because in that case both ionization age and density profiles increase to infinity as they approach the contact discontinuity.
