Table B.1: Main parameters of the simulations with continuously applied twisting. $\sigma _{u}$ and $\sigma _{\rho }$ are the smoothing parameters of the variables $\rho~u_{x,y,z}$ and $\rho$ , respectively. The subscripts "in'' and "out'' refer to the "inner region'' of the simulation domain with uniform $\nu$ and $\sigma$ and to the rest of the box, respectively. $\nu _{\rm in}=0.1$ in all runs.
Table B.2: Main parameters of the relaxation runs. These runs had uniform $\nu =0.1$ and $\sigma$ (as given in the table). $t_{\rm relax}$ is the duration of the runs. $t_{\rm r2}=1$ for the runs with $\rho _0=B_0^2$ , and $t_{\rm r2}=5$ for the runs with $\rho_0=\vert\vec{B}_0\vert$ (except the one at $\Phi_{\rm g}=2.50~\pi$ , in which also an artificial reduction of $\rho$ was applied).
