In this model the broad emission lines originate in a vertical disk wind, at a critical distance in the accretion disk and the widths of such broad emission lines are the Keplerian velocities of the accretion disk at the radius at which the wind originates. The disk wind forms for external accretion rates higher than a minimum value below which a standard disk is stable.
