Kahabka (1999) used not only $HR_{\rm 1}$ but also $HR_{\rm 2}$ and $L_{\rm X}$ (with reference to the local $N_{\rm H}$-value at the source position) and their respective ratios to discriminate supersoft sources. Using these criteria and the source list of S97, he came up with an additional 26 new supersoft source candidates, 4 of them correlated with foreground stars in S97 and 4 with supernova remnants. Excluding these 8 sources, 18 additional supersoft source candidates in M 31 remain.
