We report radio observations of quasi-periodic type III burst
emission from the solar corona in close association with the 2B/X2.8 flare
of December 11, 2001 at two frequencies (151.5 and 109 MHz). The measured mean period was ≈11.6 s. We attempted to infer the plasma parameters of the region where the electron beams responsible for the observed type III emission were accelerated/injected using our data, and the values are the following: the Alfvén speed km s-1; the electron density
cm-3; the magnetic field strength
G.
Key words: Sun: activity / Sun: flares / Sun: oscillations / Sun: radio radiation
