$\begin{figure} \par\includegraphics[width=8.4cm,clip]{Figure1.eps}\end{figure}$ Figure 1: Behavior of ${\langle n(r)\rangle}_{\rm p}$ for "CDM particles'' in a $\Lambda$ CDM simulation run by the Virgo consortium (Jenkins et al. 1998) together with the determination by HEB3GS and those in several samples of the CfA2 catalog reported in Joyce et al. (1999). Note that (i) the power-law index in the simulated data is quite different to that in the observations ( $\gamma \approx 1.8$ instead of $\gamma \approx 1$ - Baertschiger et al. 2002); (ii) the homogeneity scale detected in the LRG sample, $\lambda _0 \approx 70$ Mpc/h, is very significantly larger than that in the simulated data ( $\lambda _0 \approx 10$ Mpc/h).
