Note the presence of two X-ray sources in the CHANDRA image, with a separation of $\simeq$ 3.5 $^{\prime \prime }$ at PA of $\simeq$ 315 $^{\rm o}$ . The ASCA image (same scale) is from the observation during which the source was seen to flare, and clearly shows the much larger PSF of ASCA. The positions of the CHANDRA sources 1 (MWC 297), 3, and 4 are shown, along with the error circles. Note that, in the ASCA image, the observed peak in intensity is consistent with positions of sources 3 and 4, but not with that of MWC 297.
